There's nothing we love more than getting to know our influencers better, so we're thrilled to share our conversation with Victoria Heckstall, the blogger behind Giveaways 4 Mom!
How did you get into blogging?
I started my first blog back in 2011 around the time that I started freelance writing. It was a blog that I used to track my work at home journey. It started attracting readers as it turns out there were other moms who wanted to get into working online and they found it amazing that I was building up a full-time income solely from working from my computer.
Fast forward to 2012, I had someone approach me about creating a website for me in exchange for a review. Since my first blog was doing well I thought why not. However, I was unsure what my second site would be about. At this time, I was attending a ton of Twitter parties and entering giveaways so Giveaways 4 Mom was born.
Giveaways 4 Mom started off as a review and giveaway blog, however, after two years of being in this niche I was tired of just doing review posts and hosting giveaways. I wanted to connect with moms on a deeper level and decided to rebrand as the lifestyle blog it is today. It allows me to connect with parents around the world and give an inside peek into my life as well. Additionally, like my work at home blog, it is amazing to see just how much my family changes over the years.
What are your goals for your blog?
My main goal for Giveaways 4 Mom is for it to be a place where parents can come to read about different things that interest them and get advice about things not related to being a parent. While I do post parenting content, the goal is for parents to not lose themselves during the parenthood journey. Parents are people too and it is important for us to have likes and dislikes that don’t involve our children as they aren’t always going to be living at home.
Who are some of your favorite fellow bloggers? Who or what inspires you outside of the blogosphere (books, movies, TV, other people’s stories, etc.)?
Some of my favorite fellow bloggers include Lou from Product Review Mom and Taya from IsDiva. Outside of the blogosphere I would have to say that I find the show Heartland to be very inspiring.
Who would you invite to your ultimate dinner party (celebs, family members, historical figures, etc)?
For the ultimate dinner party, I would invite some bloggers for a meetup. Over the years I have made some great virtual blogging friends and it would be nice to get together and see what ideas we could come up with and just meet in person in general.
What’s your favorite part about living where you do? I love living in Virginia because there is always something going on or some new shop opening that provides a great experience. Recently, we had a kickboxing studio open in my city and since my first class I have been hooked. Plus, there’s always something to do with the kids. And, of course, I have to love that I have beaches between 15-45 minutes away from my home.
What are some of your favorite things (think Oprah style) - food, fashion, home decor, etc. All the little things that make your day better!
For me, it’s really the little things that make my day. For example, going to kickboxing class, having a frosted lemonade from Chick-fil-A, or going to the nail salon.
What’s your personal motto (if you have one)?
My personal motto is “If you stand for nothing you’ll fall for anything”.
What’s your day job/what do you do in addition to blogging?
I am a mom of three boys. Also, I am a freelance writer/content marketing specialist. Occasionally, I dabble in influencer marketing campaign management and social media management as well.
Who’s your role model/which women do you find inspiring?
Hmm. This one is a tough one. Overall, I’d say that I find all moms to be inspiring. Being a parent is a hard job and I honestly have no clue how any of us manage to do it.
Thank you for taking the time to share with us, Victoria!
